Andrew Miller pulls the reader in with his haunting descriptions and rather interesting storyline. The protagonist, Jean-Baptiste, is tasked by his superiors to cleanse Les Innocence, an overflowing cemetery in Paris, which has a lot of sentimental attachments to it – some more obvious than others. This mission is a great backdrop for following the lives of the characters in the novel. I enjoyed reading this book but, I must admit, I expected more to happen at the end...or perhaps, something different. I guess that's not what the story was about.
